Help Wanted: Daycare Teacher
1. Developmental

a. Develops, implements and supervises curriculum and age appropriate activities for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years enrolled in the Child Care Center.

b. Ensures program is in accordance with all local child care licensing standards.

c. Ensures program enhances age-appropriate social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of children.

d. Completes and submits developmentally appropriate lesson plans to the Center Director at least 1 week in advance.

e. Monitors environments to ensure that they are designed to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children.

f. Provides input to the Center Director for age-appropriate supplies and equipment needed to operate and enhance the program.

g. Demonstrates proper use of equipment and procedures such as diapering, positive guidance, etc, on a regular basis.

h. Monitors/observes child's progress and communicates information about the child to the parent in a complete, candid and positive manner.

2. Health / Safety

a. Attends to the physical needs of the children, i.e. diapering, feeding, toileting, cleaning, water, rest, application of minor first aid.

b. Actively supervises children at all times.

c. Keeps activity areas free of anything that might cause injury; checks equipment daily to assure no broken parts, etc.; immediately removes any broken/damaged toys or equipment.

d. Records all accidents/incidents and reports any such occurrences to supervisor within one half hour of incident. Alerts supervisor to any child who exhibits signs of illness, unusual behaviors, etc.

e. Releases children only to designated and authorized adults.

f. Cleans, disinfects, and washes toys and equipment in room weekly (or more frequently as needed). Properly sanitizes diaper-changing area after each diaper change.

g. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the Center and upkeep of the outside play area. This may include cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping, etc.

3. Child Interaction

a. Provides time for children to go outside daily, weather permitting.

b. Interacts frequently (both verbally and physically) with children using active supervision techniques such as making eye contact, asking open-ended questions, participating in play and positive touching.

4. Professionalism / Public Relations

a. Treats fellow staff members, parents, children and visitors with courtesy and respect; maintains a professional demeanor.

b. Maintains confidentiality of all oral, written, and observed information, including information related to the program, staff, children, and parents. Sharing of any information is on a “need to know” basis.

c. Addresses any parent concerns in a timely manner and refers any difficult problems, complaints, or conflicts to Director for resolution.

d. Actively participates in the Child Care Center public relations efforts by promoting customer service, etc.

e. Successfully completes all required on-going training according to established guidelines.

f. Consistently demonstrates a personal commitment to professional and personal growth, maintaining an evident interest in the job; actively participates in staff meetings, trainings, and workshops.

g. Periodically reviews Child Care Center policies and procedures and supports them at all times; cooperates with Center initiatives with a positive attitude; is dependable and punctual; arrives at assigned area on time as scheduled; breaks and lunches at times specified by supervisor and returns to area promptly.
Skills Required:
1. Education: A Teacher must have, at a minimum, 60 semester hours of credit with 6 semester hours of Early Childhood Education from an accredited or approved college or university. Those hours must include units in child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum.
Or: One year (1560 clock hours) of Experience in Child Care and 30 semester hours of credit with 6 semester hours of Early Childhood Education from an accredited or approved college or university. Those hours must include units in child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum.
2. Experience: A minimum of 6 months of direct experience as a Teacher in a licensed child care facility is preferred.
3. Transportation: Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

4. Physical

a. Must pass a physical examination and have a negative TB test.

b. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

c. Must be able to stand for most of the work shift.

d. Must be able to bend, kneel or stoop to assist children.

e. Must be able to provide visual and auditory supervision of children at all times.




5. Conduct

a. Must abide by the Employee Standards of Conduct.

b. Must support the Program Philosophy.

c. Must pass all required background/criminal history checks and must immediately notify Myah’s Just 4 Kids of any incidents that occur during employment that could impact your background/criminal history clearance.

d. Must be willing to submit to pre-employment and random substance use/abuse testing.
