Fedora's Pizza and Gyros Noticed 2 months ago that it was closed, paper covering the windows at the University Street location. I'd only been there once, and its hours didn't allow me to get lunch. Thought maybe the owner retired.
But when I got lunch at Taco Bell at Sterling Bazaar plaza, saw a sign near Louie Legends that Fedora's had opened there! But Google Maps still had opening at 3 pm, even though the "Open" light was flashing. I'll have to go back, even though their gyros are a bit priceier than Arby's. But nearest Arby's is out by Willow Knolls.
So I'll have to check Fedora's out again.

There was a death in the Fedora family and they were taking some time off, It was earlier this year. Someone in Peoria sent me a screen shot of the posting on social media. Can't remember which platform
DennisinPeoria reacted The patriarch of the family who started Fedoras died. "Paul Khourisader was born in 1939, spoke five languages, and worked at the Swedish Embassy in Lebanon before immigrating to Venezuela and eventually the United States. He founded the locally famous pizza shop Fedora's near Bradley University in 1986, later moving it to McClure Avenue in Peoria." On a personal note, he had to be one of the most animated people I knew and had a great sense of humor.
I realize that, but ever since the Arby's on Sterling started serving them, I could actually taste the meat and sauce. Haddad's was too far away, and Fedora's didn't open until 4 or so. Then The Sterling Arby's closed. I only get 30 minutes and I don't like ordering on the web especially when I don't know when my lunch will be. And many times they require debit or credit card when I prefer cash. Sometimes that option is there, but not every lunch place.
Loved Fedora's when it was by Bradley and then on University when Paul was alive. He was always so nice to see. I was so excited to see that it was now closer to my house as I had not been in several years. We stopped in one evening for 2 sandwiches. Took over an hour, as we waited, for just two sandwiches. We were advised that we should call in the next time. The Holiday was always my go to. Got home and was soooo disappointed. The sandwich was not even close to what it had been. I threw mine out. Some funky sause was added and the bread was nothing like it had been in years past. Nothing like my good memories. I can not remember what my husband ordered but his went in the garbage too. People say the pizza is good but I am not taking the chance.
