WH Correspondents dinner disruption Not because the President got up to protest the journalists that allegedly write fake news about him. CNN reporting shots fired somewhere nearby. POTUS and other leaders were evacuated, of course. AP reported threats, but CNN showing people just standing around. DJT reports on his platform that a shooter has been arrested. Alleged shooting took place outside the hotel ballroom. Guests and the President will be reseated for the program to continue.

Oh you nailed it. Apparently this was a real shooting.

All 3 main networks cutting away for special report (NBA fans will be upset)
NBC showing b/w hotel Cam video of a guy running down a hall past the 1st SS perimeter, and SS pulling their guns. The shooter had no chance getting past a 2nd perimeter and getting past locked ballroom doors. President rightfully praised the actions of all SS and other law enforcement who stopped the suspect. One officer was shot, but was wearing vests, according to the President, and not injured, and heading to hospital.
According to AP, the hotel itself was not closed for the dinner. Guests could come and go. The dinner was held in basement ballroom, same place it's usually held.
@Billybob, please correct me if needed, or add anything you can add.

That is correct. To be clear, guests could come and go. However,,there are multiple checkpoints for them starting outside the hotel. The Secret Service knows the knows the Washington Hilton like the back of their hand.In fact it was built with considerable input by the Secret Service.
@DennisinPeoria :
Wait! There are still NBA fans? Stopped watching ages ago when it became the "all about me/what I can do" circus.

Wait! There are still Trump fans? It should have stopped years ago when it became the "all about me/ what I can do" circus.

Some may disagree, but I am glad that DJT was not directly shot at and suffered no injury. I would not want him to become a martyr. His original press conference had to have been written by someone else as it was fairly upbeat, at least for as long as I could tolerate listening to him. Some of the later interviews, not so much. I would like for him to live long enough to face consequences from multiple actions and see what is actually becoming of his "legacy".

Totally agree! Trump needs to see and experience the consequences that he is responsible for.
@CCubs :
He'll just look at those consequences and blame someone else. But then again, that is the presidential way. "I inherited a bad economy" "I inherited high inflation" "I inherited high gas prices" "I inherited a bear stock market" "I inherited (insert war region here)" "I inherited a high unemployment rate". It is just that Trump has caused far more BS than usual to push off onto others.

I do firmly believe that it that if both the president and vp attend the same high profile event away from the White House the entire line of succession should not attend too. That is a topic of conversation in many places today.

All the more reason he NEEDS a new ballroom. (With his name on it, of course)

But what about all the other threats and attacks with previous Presidents attending the same WHCD events, all at the same cavernous ballroom at the Hilton? Oh, wait...
My opinion and whatever.
SouthSideLifer reacted My opinion and whatever.
If the WH President/King is using last night's attack as a reason his ballroom needs to be built, and any lawsuits dropped, because the President needs top notch security:
#1. He didn't have to attend. He didn't go to any during his 1st term, why this one?
#2. This event is NOT a WH sponsored event, it's the independent Correspondents Association holding it.
Only reason SS is there was because of him and other government officials. I'm sure the number of SS would have been less if a President is not in attendance.
#3. His golden ballroom is a anticipated to hold up to 999 people. According to reports, there were 2,300 guests crammed into the Hilton Ballroom. So if his $400M ballroom is done, and insists the WHCA holds their dinner there in 2028, who will not be invited or left out?
Probably any MSM networks and journalists, and only invite press people he likes. (Yeah, jumping the gun there, I don't think it'll be done before next President is sworn in) Despite the thumbs down in previous post, I certainly don't recall attempts like this when Bush, Obama, and Biden were in office. Not saying there weren't death threats, but certainly no brazen gunmen hiding on a roof or running past SS perimeters. But that's my opinion and mine alone and no one else.
