Up and Down Gas Prices

This thread will cover both directions, although I'm sure gas will continue increasing a long as those in charge don't have a game plan to stop the wars. (Yes plural because of Saudi/Houthi fighting)

Beachlers is up to $4.19, not a surprise, but interesting because it's the same as CC and North Pekin. Except CC Casey's was $4.29. West Peoria was also $4.24 or $4.19. Usually Beachlers is higher than everyone else.

Once again it seems to be more of a Illinois/Peoria thing. There are stations in Missouri, indiana, and Iowa that are barely over $3 a gallon. Granted, there are areas in those states where gas prices are higher but one has to ask themselves why are these places a dollar cheaper than Peoria Illinois especially those who are in BFE parts of their states.

It's amazing how many people don't pay attention, or just plain ol' don't care. Another possible explanation is they didn't understand the question which opens up a whole other can of worms.

"The Politico poll, released on Friday, found roughly 3 in 5 adults in the U.S. believe the cost of gas in their area rose more than the data shows. Nearly a quarter of respondents said fuel in their zip code rose by $3 or more, which it did not.

"The average price of gas this week was $4, a level it has fluctuated around since the U.S. and Israel launched renewed strikes on Iran earlier this month. Before the war, the average hovered around $3, according to statistics."

Talk about up and down......Becks in the Heights was $4.19 this morning (before my discounts). On my way back home about an hour later it was up to $4.39. 2 hours later I ran to Alwans and it was back to $4.19.

@kraziebill :
Surge pricing is a growing retail strategy.... with electronic stickering, businesses can bump up prices when they are busiest.

Wal-Mart has been experimenting with this as have other retailers. Look for the little LED price displays on the shelves... they are all connected to a server. Someone at a terminal can change them at will or even the presence of your phone.

Algorithmic pricing...

As mentioned in another thread, I was assigned to get shots of different gas station prices. The Circle K on NE Adams was 4.09 for credit, 3.99 for cash; Connoco at McClure and Prospect was 4.19; Mobil at Knoxville/Forrest Hill 4.39; Phillips 66 at Sheridan/McClure was, I believe, about 4.19.

@Mahkno : Fantastic. I suppose the price could change after I put the item in my cart and I might not notice until (after) check out?

The whole "communism" thing is fake too. It is intended to be a scare tactic. The only thing that scares me is the loyalty to Trump.

I think we're getting into this weird period where the midterms are coming up and gas prices don't make any sense at all. Today, the price is as low as $3.269/gal where I live in Grand Prairie, TX (borders Dallas to the west). Usually, it averages around 50 cents more in Peoria, so $3.769/gal there??
