Whether women or trans individuals can cross over kind of depends on the sport. In my youth, I played soccer. I was part of that wave of kids that brought soccer to the high schools and into many universities. I was good enough to start and play varsity all four years but not great enough to be recruited or play NCAA. There was no girls division then. Accross the state there were girls playing with the boys at the IHSA and club level together. I remember one in particular from Chatham who played on Chatham's high school team but also played on one of Springfield's club teams regularly the entire time I was played as well. We played her team regularly. She was quite capable of holding her own. Soccer is less about strength and speed and more about dexterity and playing smart. Size does not matter overly much. Lionel Messi is only 5' 7". That girl from Chatham was about that height as well. Basketball is a little different. Basketball rewards, favors players who are the tallest and biggest. In general women just can't compete against that. Then are taller and just bigger. What if the transwoman was only 6' tall? Would that change it all? In one v one matches the differences are often quite clear. There are other questions.... did the person transition before or after puberty? If you listen to Dr. Tyson... there are possibly way to reconcile this debate. Are those pushing for hard bans really looking for a fair solution? Or are they just adding fuel for ulterior motivations to advance anti-trans agendas? We are seeing in real time that is is exactly the case.
Mahkno : Ben Shapiro claims to be a Libertarian??? #msg1957661
@Mahkno :
I usually do! lol
I just thought it was funny. He's a conservative thru and thru. Not so much libertarian, IMO.

I'm sure if retired tennis great Roger Federer would transition to a woman and come back to the tour, he would immediately shoot to number 1. Only have to play three sets instead of five? 135 mph first serves? One of the most accurate backhands of anybody who ever played the game? It would be nothing even close to Billie Jean King versus Bobby Riggs.

Two former NBA players announced their intentions to enter the WNBA draft - as women - to force the issue on the league to make a stance, one way or another.

PeoriaIllinoisan : I think there is a tacit acceptance and even encouragement of a rougher game in the WNBA.... because it draws interest. Look at all the buzz around fouls in the WNBA.... that is what people are talking about. #msg1957659
