Call Centers
I'm convinced that the ones that ARE located in the United States, discriminate against people who speak clearly and distinctly. "I didn't understand a word you said, your hired."

So glad I no longer have a landline! Get a few calls on the cell phone, but not many.

Ahh, The life of a call center employee.... You will never understand. Emoticon

I will say though, I don;t know that I could do the front line phones these days. People have become more rude and less polite.

@skutfarcus : I work for a global call center with over 40000 employees worldwide. You have NO IDEA> Emoticon

What I always find funny is some of the overseas call center reps will use a "phone name" because their real names are too hard for Americans to pronounce, There is nothing more funny then hearing a rep answer the phone with a very heavy middle-eastern accent and "hello, this is Billy"

I chuckle every time

It wouldn't be so bad if it were not the same thing over and over! "We've been monitoring your credit....." Even when you use the number to stop the calls, it doesn't work and they just keep coming. I couldn't work the phones like that. I know they are just trying to make a living, but it really gets old quick.

I love it when I'm on a roof, taking down a DirecTV dish and I get a call from DirecTV! THOSE are the best!

Its a shame you have to list that number in your phone to block it. I started a X column its now at about X15 and growing.

Fun fact: if you're on the phone with Xfinity and you say you'll complete a survey after the call they will ALWAYS give you the least grouchy rep. I have tested this many times!!

I've been told that if you answer the unknown calls all you are doing is adding your number to another list as a valid number and you'll get more calls. And that some of the apps you can download onto your phone to automatically block unknown numbers like "Mr Number", just add your number to the list.
I tried the "Mr Number" app a few years ago and all I got was more unknown solicitation calls.
I'd love to know if there is some way to actually block your number from these types of calls, right?
I love the calls that come up as my own number.
When I say "list", I'm talking about the mystery list (data base) that is sold to various companies for solicitation. Just like you should never fill out a survey application for free goods, cause you're just adding your number to that list and your e-mail too.
Back in the day it would be the same as filling out a paper form to win that car or trip. You're just adding your info to a data base.
I'd prefer junk physical mail then junk phone calls though!
