From an 1881 history book in my collection, pictured here. Check out the review questions starting from the time of George Washington. Yeah, I'd be on a chair with a dunce cap.

Today the difficult question for Ohio's children is. "Find Ohio on a map."

@Muskie :
Maybe, perhaps a number of Ohio children could find Ohio on a map but wonder how many children outside of Ohio could find it?

If a huge number of children think Ellis Island is one of the Hawaiian Islands any level of stupidity is possible.

@TheRealQuisp :

There are some potentially good topics there for an essay question on a test or a research paper for an AP class.

Hmmm interesting. I was just having a conversation with some friends about history a few days ago. I will admit I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to history. I was never a very good reader when it came to comprehending the information that I just read. I'd just skip ahead.
I could blame that on a short attention span, or just plain boredom.
History to me is one of those subjects that depends a lot on who is sharing it with you. Whether it's a teacher, parent or grand parent, it needs to be interesting. So if they are just spewing out names and dates, for me that was boring so I didn't listen. Those were the kind of teachers I had.
Now I regret not listening and paying attention. However, I'm not afraid to look things up.

LOL I just read all of the posts and I'm a little off topic. Perfect example of how I often jump ahead.

@Funnylady : That's EXACTLY how I felt! In fact, I took history in summer school just to get it out of the way!!! HAHA.
