And what's worse, it was a neighbor who called in on a non-emergency line, asking for a welfare check, because she knew the elderly mother was having medical issues. Her daughter that was killed was taking care of her. So why didn't the officer knock at the door first, if it was a non-emergency call? I don't think we'll ever know.

Apparently miscommunication has happened before but certainly not resulting with someone being killed or even with an officer drawing of firing a weapon,

The Department didn't waste any time throwing him under the bus that's for sure. He's only been on the job a year and a half. If he was that scared to begin with he should have never been hired. Peoria has been hiring a bunch of questionable cops too. It won't be long before they have a similar incident occur.

Generally there is a criminal investigation before they sort out policy violations. Seems like a rush to judgement. And I have a relative who worked for Fort Worth. He was terminated because a person they arrested died in custody at the jail long after they were gone from their custody.

With just a resignation, he will move and hire on at a different department. It's how it works these days.
