He will keep getting raises because he knows much, much too much about many, many things.

@cjsummers :
Not when an organization or a city has been in
situation with such financial challenges where people have to endure ever increasing taxes and fees . Pot holed streets that continue, for the most part, to be neglected. Issues surrounding the hotel and Matthews etc,. etc. and vastly under performing public schools.

@billybob :

The hotel is already done and gone. The past.

The public schools are not under his authority. District 150 is an entirely separate governing body. The City Manager's peer is Dr. Kherat, the Superintendent.

@Mahkno :
The hotel is done and gone but how much of a " shortfall" remains? How much exactly did the city lose? Schools are not under city halls direct control but there are voters and constituents who have to endure increasing fees and taxes with declining services who send their kids to those schools.

If the pay increase is not more than inflation, there is no 'raise'. The current inflation rate is 2.5%. He got no raise.

If you don't get more than 2.5% you didn't get one either.

Those 'ever increasing' taxes and fees by the City have very specific allocations and purposes that are well documented, and in most cases are compulsory. eg the City has no choice but to levy them.

@Mahkno :
Are all other city employees getting raises the rate of inflation?

@Mahkno : Right....Just like how they used the stormwater money to purchase the property at the end of Spring street along the river.

And I believe the hotel thing in not done and gone. There is still a lawsuit against the city going on.
