The best award show of the year, in my opinion. Of course the winners will always be debated and history will show they'll get half of them wrong. Most of the awards are not televised; it's really just a big night to watch live musical performances of all genres in the same night.

@RambleOn : I enjoy them and watching the banter between the characters in the audience, but as an adult I usually get angry with the politics of it and turn it off before it gets too far along. The Grammys I never get tired of, since I was a kid, because it is music and the way they meld different generations of musicians together on a single piece. Like watching a rapper sing a Sam Cooke tune or some goth dude singing, oh, a disco medley (not that those things have actually happened, although they might have ... but you get the idea), and then I'm like, ok, so that guy actually DOES has a pinkie's worth of talent. Interesting. Now why does he waste it on that crap he sings

Normally don't watch them, but here I am watching with the granddaughter. She's enjoying pointing out the people she knows in the crowd and the performers.

@kraziebill : My kids are all grown up and moved away but they're snap-chatting me reactions. The new music I don't know is their music. Doubt they're looking forward to Billy Joel's performance like I am.

Seems rock categories were ignored. Again. As far as on air awards. Metallica won for Best Metal performance for their album 72 Seasons. At least we saw U2 perform in Las Vegas. FWIW , Country and R&B awards were ignored too.
But a rock artist called "Boygenius", won some rock awards, and I've never heard of him/group or their winning song...until tonight. I keep track of latest rock songs on LA Lloyd's Rock Countdown, and don't think 105.7 the X Rocks has ever played Boygenius. I'll have to look that song up.

Otherwise, I enjoyed Miley Cyrus winning 2 Grammys, while my wife was in disbelief that I'd never heard the song "Flowers". (I don't listen to 106.9, sorry) My daughters enjoyed Miley when she was on Disney's Hannah Montana.
I don't remember hearing Joni Mitchell's music growing up, but she did great singing the hit song I know, "Both Sides Now". Great to see Billy Joel back with a new song.
And was the surprised look on Taylor's face sincere when they announced her name for 2 Awards? And why wasn't Travis Kelce with her, supporting her like she did attending all those Chiefs games? Surely the team could have excused him for 1.5 days from Super Bowl prep.

I think it has become a popularity contest instead of a talent contest. Outside of Purple Rain, Prince only won 4 Grammys. Sinead O'Conner covered his song and won a Grammy (but Prince didn't get one for writing it) plus all the other Top 40 songs he wrote for other artists. All the top 40s he had himself. Damn good guitarist. So, Taylor Swift's work/talent is better than Prince's? Really?

@PeoriaChronicle : Talk about awkward. Jay-Z gets on stage and criticizes the Grammys for never awarding Beyonce the album of the year award as well as how they dis black artists and don't televise the rap awards.

Meanwhile, Killer Mike, and I don't follow rap so I don't know who he is, got arrested for battery after winning best rap performance, best rap song and best rap album.

It's all good though, "Ain't nothing had happened was. I won them GRAMMYs, we slide, we partied all night."
