3 foot wide meteor caused loud booms this afternoon in the Boston area

We heard it pretty loud. 3 booms in quick succession. We looked at each other thinking it may have been something in the nearby industrial building. I knew it wasn't gunshots... Wrong sound. Wild!

This I cannot understand. No warnings of it coming, yet all the tech that watches the skies. Guess we didn't see that one coming. I thought it had to burn in the earth atmosphere.
