Did a little experiment today, Mrtnt and I spoke to a few AA friends. Asked them if they wanted us to call them black or African American(AA). They all said if you call me black then I will call you racist. Not saying all would say that but the ones we spoke to did.

@mrstnt Yellow is reserved for cowards.

When I was school there were different names for races, white was caucasian, black was negro, white/black mix was mullato.

@starbound64 That's your opinion and how you feel.
My opinion and how I feel is, I DON'T have to use color to describe someone. If you're a coward then I will call you a coward.

Let me try to understand this. I am of Anglo heritage, therefore my skin is light and traditionally that has been referred to as "white." I describe myself as a white guy, and I check the block for "white" when asked my race on a form. Many people on here have mentioned "white privelege" over and over again. Is that racist?

Am I being racist by calling myself white? Or is it okay for a white guy to call another white guy "white" but no other race better do it? I'm confused.

If a person from another race says I'm "white" I don't get offended. Should I be?

@AV8R I will direct it to you since you were a officer at one point in your life.. Some one was running from you and you were chasing them. What did you yell at them to stop. Hay white man stop or hay black man stop. Just trying to understand what call you make.

Why you call a Asian instead of yellow. Since were taking tradition .

I'm going to assume that these questions are not serious, and you're just trying to either stir up some controversy or defend an indefensible position.

If you are indeed 100% serious, and want a serious answer, let me know.

OMG, okay here we go. I see in color. Jehovah gave me eyes that can differentiate differences in the light spectrum. It would be foolish not to use them.

I clearly didn't yell "hey white guy, stop!" That would be stupid. "STOP! POLICE!" was the standard phrase. Usually the guy running was smart enough to figure out I was talking to him.

If I didn't catch the person, and was then asked by dispatch or fellow officers for a description, I would provide the suspect's race if I observed it. For instance "suspect is a white/black male, approx 6 feet in height wearing black pants and a red shirt. Last seen on foot headed north on University from McClure." Is that wrong? If I omit the race because "I shouldn't see color" should I omit clothing descriptions as well? Just say he was wearing pants and a shirt, and let the user decide?

A complete description, including race, helps narrow down the suspect. There is no need for officers to bother African Americans or women if I described the suspect as white male.

Why use "white" and "black?" Because that is EXACTLY what the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer uses, that is what it accepts, and that is the standard legal description according to the FBI.

If you think that makes me a racist, then you can think what you want. I think you want to see what you want to see. If you knew me, you'd know otherwise.

Government protocol I see trained into a officer.

When Talking to some one would I say light skinned or dark skinned. Because we are not "white" or "black" ..................

This thread is sounding like arguing for the sake of arguing. I have two dogs. If someone asks me their names, I say, "The black one is Minni and the white one is Matilda." Neither is actually black or white, but it is a descriptor that makes sense and is understood by everybody I know. I love them both. I am not judging them based on their color.

"I see two men shaking hands” this was the original poster comment.
I think we got a little derailed on what he was saying. Everyone has an opinion and is free to express that opinion. WE brought color into the thread and I believe that is what the OP was saying. When I look at someone, I don't see color, I see a person. Would I say black or white, NO but that is my preference.
I actually would like to thank the OP because it encouraged me to do some research and realized that the avatar/pic that I had was wrong so @Illinoisjarhead Thank You!!!
