Up and Down Gas Prices

$4.59 at the Kroger on Lake Street last night. $3.99 at a station in Canton on Saturday. According to Gas buddy, $3.70s in Springfield. Come 'on, Peoria, do better.

Gas was about $4.15-$4.19 out in areas like Eureka and El Paso when I was out that way yesterday.

Kroger must have got the Mafia memo early. Kroger in Washington $4.59 this am. All others $4.29 or less. Thorntons in EP $4.15. Probably not by end of day though.

The govt issued warnings today that prices were going to go higher. Also, the strategic reserves are at their lowest level since 1983.

And Iran has stated the straits will stay closed until after Trump's term has ended.

DennisinPeoria : A sub plot of all this is, quietly, in the last few days, some American personnel have been evacuated from numerous embassies in the Mideast. Some have been brought back to the US. Others are working out of other embassies. A reduced staff is working in the embassies in the Mideast.

Jet fuel prices nearly doubled in the past week. Airlines have notified the White House and congressional leadership that dramatic layoffs and flight are on the way after Labor Day unless conditions improve dramatically.

Except for stations in Creve Coeur and North Pekin, prices are about $4.39 elsewhere, including towns like Washington and Eureka. I don't expect any drops for a long time now since it seems actions overseas are at a standstill.

Oil prices rose 3% today. Treasury yields on the rise. Walmart reported sluggish earnings for the second quarter, the slowest in 6 yearWMT stock market down almost 9% at opening. Overall market looks set to open down 400 points. Japan,Korea,China and UK have solid off US treasuries inn recent days.
