As I mentioned in the crazy like a zoo post, the new playground is moving right along. It's not too exciting looking if you ask me, especially compared to what was there before, BUT ... I am not a parent of a child with physical disabilities.
 
I was also assured that they (the park district) do have the time capsule from the previous structure in their possession.

Hope for the money spent if helps. When we were kids, this was a place to go. Don't see any safe spaces.

I have cousins that used to live on Tripp, just off Prospect. Too times to count we walked from there to the Heights and Velvet Freeze and Ben Franklin, The same for walking down to Glen Oak Park. On really hot days, we stopped at the A&W root beer stand on Prospect when it was still there. No one thought anything of it. There was never a problem of any kind.

Totally agree. I would ride my bike from East Peoria to that park. Many bus trips back then. I remember all of them places.
