Going to California I picked up a guy in Morton tonight who claimed he'd had six beers but "wasn't good and drunk yet." I'll give him credit though, he's honest, and he called an Uber. I dropped him off at a country bar outside of town. I think it was actually called The Country Bar. Go figure. Since I was there, I went inside to use the restroom. Nice little place. It had a pool table. "Going to California" from Led Zeppelin IV was playing. Someone was singing along. I got back in my car, plugged in my phone, and got ready to leave. 15,231 songs on my phone were on shuffle. Something hummed - then flashed - like the flux-capacitor was firing up. Then the unbelievable happened. "Going to California" came on. You've GOT to be kidding me! Now, I'm no mathematician, but the odds of that song coming up would be simply one in 15,231. Then I asked Google the odds of a specific song starting at a specific moment, such as what just happened, and the answer was 1 in 2.7 million. One in 2.7 million! So now I'm sitting there outside The Country Bar, listening to Zeppelin, wondering what in the world is going on here! Maybe it was a random coincidence. Maybe it was cosmic intervention. Whatever it was, it was weird as hell.

It is a subtle hint to get hip and make that California trip on Route 66.... which is having a centennial this year. Springfield has a thing... or multiple things going on for Route 66. route66fest.com/

Could the bar have been Country Saloon on Meadows near the Morton/ EP line? If so, nice place, good food.. On another note, "Standing on a Corner in Winslow Arizona" on Rte 66. Kind of a spiritual area for yours truly

Only other local place that has "Country" in its name (that I can think of offhand) is the Country Club BBQ place on Farmington Road.
Technically there is no "Meadows" street in East Peoria. Even Meadows Avenue Tap got it wrong. It's "Meadow" So who added the "s"

Grew up near Rt. 66. First home I remember was in Broadwell. If you traveled between Lincoln and Springfield, you may remember the Pig Hip restaurant and motel. From there we moved to rural Williamsville, closer to Springfield. Lots of Rt. 66 memories.

@kraziebill :
I grew up on Meadow Ave. I'd say "Meadow Avenue" and you wouldn't believe how many people would say something like "oh, Meadows Avenue". To which, in later in life and being a smart*****, would reply "No, there is only one Meadow", which would always leave puzzled looks on faces.
