Has anyone else heard what happened to the channel 25 morning weather guy? There's a thing going around facebook that says he was told to leave and his things would be mailed.

Local media, broadcast & print can hardly call itself local anymore! Finding news to report is getting more difficult, too. The same story will be presented 6 broadcasts in a row like nothing new is happening in the area. Sad times for "local" news.

Generally speaking, if an employer tells you to leave now and they will mail your things to you, there are only a few things that could have happened.
Budget cuts, lack of news to repor etc. t is not generally among them.

@RambleOn : I was going to go with the Local "News" might as well adopt being called the Local "Weather". Chuck Collins is on at least for 4 segments in a half hour. Emoticon.

My wife was wondering the same thing about Jesse Quinn, as she watched his weather in the early AM just before leaving for work about 4:45. (WMBD This Morning doesn't air until 5 am).

I knew the GM at WEEK/WHOI had retired, and they have gone through about 3 news directors in last few years. I've known the Assistant News director since my PCCEO days when he was a photographer, and we worked together for a few months at CAT.

As far as repeating stories: it could be newscasts that run for 2-2.5 hours are packaged for those who only have time to watch perhaps 30 minutes or less. Or you have some that don't get up until 6 or 7 am.
Good Day Central Illinois, however, is more of a magazine type show, with headlines at the end of each half hour.

Even before I started at WMBD, we tuned in more to Chris Yates for weather more often in early afternoon broadcasts.

There are numerous reports out that Joe Strus, a weekend meteorologist from WANE 15 in Fort Wayne, Indiana signed off for the last time last Sunday, Not much information was given out except that he was going to a station in Illinois to become a weekday meteorologist. He grew up in the southern suburbs of Chicago.
Is this the replacement for Jessie Guinn? Didn't take long to find one.

@RambleOn :
Putting everything together, apparently, he was doing the weekend weather in Fort Wayne. That was on the WANE website. He was doing the weather on HOI local news during the week. Busy man. Fort Wayne is a nice little trek every weekend, So was he doing the weekend weather for WANE from Peoria? I guess anything is possible. His final appearance on WANE will soon be on YouTube.

There is a video on YouTube of WANE saying good bye to him.
