License plate sticker renewal
How the Hell are we supposed to do this now? I went to cyberdriveillinois.com to renew, and the first thing they ask for is the ID # and PIN that is on the mail reminder...you know, the one they NO LONGER SEND US!!! So, I call the number at the site....sorry, closed...call this OTHER number!
I am NOT going down this rabbit hole!!!
Rant over. Anyone have any luck renewing their stickers?

I have one due next month. I haven't tried online. I guess I'll just go a bank or the Sec of State office. Crap.
Thanks for the reminder. Emoticon

I take it that you don't have your registration card from last year? Your ID# and PIN should be on it.

Ok, I just figured it out. The ID and PIN # are on last year's registration ID card. And there is no way of avoiding the $2.25 "processing fee" if you pay online.
I wonder how many people just won't bother?

You could go to a DMV office to avoid the fee.

I usually go to the office in Pekin. It's always been fast and friendly.

I went to the Peoria dmv with no problems. I feel bad for the people who don't have an office in their town. my guess is some people just don't pay and the state loses more $.

@ricardo:
Exactly. I bet thousands of people will forget...some intentionally....to renew. So many people, especially the elderly, don't have computer access.
There is no DMV office in Chillicothe. The one in Lacon is fast and friendly, but would cost me a gallon of gas to get there and back. And I honestly don't even know where the one in Peoria is.
What's frustrating is how confusing they've made the process. If you're not going to send out reminders, why tell people they can find the required ID and PIN numbers on the reminders? How difficult is it to change the wording on the website? And why do you need anything other than your unique license plate number?

I don't understand why you're not getting a notice. I get an email AND a mailed reminder about a month before expiration, and it has the renewal codes in it. Maybe they don't have your current address?

Yes, there is a small "convenience fee"but for the $2, that saves me gas, I don't have to clock out of work and lose pay (more than $2 for that hour) and the headache and hassle of going to the DMV.

@JeepPilot

It was announced back in September that the SOS would no longer be mailing out renewal notices.

@Mahkno:
The decision was made by the Secretary of State's office, not the governor's. I sincerely doubt they will ever resume sending notices by mail.
The problem is that the SoS's office hasn't bothered to change the wording on the website. It still says to find the numbers on the mailed reminders.
Good enough for government work, I guess.

I renewed mine online without a hitch. Look at your current registration card and it has the required ID & PIN# required to renew.
Hope this helps.

Ahhhh.... now after reading the entire thread I see the information has already been shared. LOL
Carry on 😁
