Our October renewal had a mailed notice in September. That was the last month they mailed any. We received nothing for the December renewal. I'd imagine there are some expired stickers out there 30+ days old now.
@JustRight :The Sec. of State did what he had to do because the Governor refuses to discuss budget with the state legislature. The Governor is holding the budget hostage to matters that have little to do with the budget process.

I have known for years that my tag is due at the end of November. For that reason, I go to the DMV the first week of November. Most of the October folks have already been there and November folks aren't thinking about it yet. Never been caught in a long line and staff is usually in a pretty good mood since they are not overwhelmed. Just in case this "elderly" person were to forget, it is already on my 2016 calendar that has been hung! It is also on the cell calendar.

Yes.... do not wait until the END of the month.

I remembered on Monday that I had a sticker expiring at the end of December. Went to the Peoria DMV yesterday, gave them the license number (didn't have registration paper since it was a new car and the dealership gave us a license plate without the paper in 2014), and got the sticker. Not a big deal, but there were 30 people in front of me when I got there around 12:20pm. There were 40 people behind me when I left after 1pm. So, plan accordingly. The line moved quickly when multiple windows were open - most people were done in 2 minutes - but when only one window was open, someone always seemed to get there and take 10 minutes.

I know when mine expires but husband forgot his was this month on his truck. Sent for it online for him and he has an email confirmation of the transaction. Better go check his boat trailer now.

Of all the cuts Rauner has made, the license plate reminder postcard is the worst? The sticker on the plate has the month and year of renewal...is it hard to look at the back of a vehicle?#the struggle is real

@JustRight I reeaallly don't remember....it is so.... one thing IL is getting right.

If you go to drivers license place to renew do you have to show proof of insurance card to them? I know I had to fill out company and date of insurance and policy number online to renew. Don't know what all the uninsured do to avoid this unless they just make something up.

All I had to do was show my current, soon to expire, registration and write a check. I didn't have to sign anything or show anything else. Maybe she was just being lazy.... The old mailing required both our signatures but that was not asked for at the DMV.
