The first to do what?

Eh, politicians and candidates have probably been offering money (bribes) for votes since the US was founded. It wasn't until the 1900s or so that Congress passed a bill making it illegal. But illegal means nothing to the inner circle in the Washington Beltway. My opinion and mine alone.

Each year same thing we are going to fix the broken problems. Yet time after time we see the corruptions that widely spread to money that leads them.
Take away the paycheck and see who stand up for the people.

tntrecycling : Many would do just fine without a paycheck. They still have the option of insider training, paid speeches, write a book, merchandise websites, kick-backs and all sorts of fraud & deception.

If a paycheck didn't come, they wouldn't stay.
You do free will everyday helping people for free. How's is that going as the belt tightens and more people become needy.

tntrecycling : They might stay without a paycheck since staying in the House or Senate gives them access to the other things I mentioned. As far a the pantry, our numbers are stable and between Eastern Illinois Foodbank, Midwest Food Bank, Walmart, Heart of Illinois Harvest and various donors, we have enough food.
