I did my run this morning and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I am still working on my HR training, so did a walk/run interval program. The bike path I used was unfamiliar to me so didn't know if it would be direct sun or not. It was mostly shaded, with a little bit in direct sunlight at times, but oh man... the bugs!! There were spots with stagnant (slow moving maybe??) water. I'm not fast enough to keep the bugs away! lol

I'm supposed to do an "active recovery day" tomorrow, but I'm heading home tomorrow. I'm about an hour north of home right now, been here for about 10 days, but been back and forth a bit to take care of some things.

I might skip the active recovery walk in the woods...

So, seems like I caught a head cold... Just in time for my 10k on Saturday. I am on a taper week but even so, Monday was a struggle. I have not gone out yet today but feeling like hot garbage. Awesome.

AverageSue : I bet you can self-medicate w/ some over the counter between now and Saturday and still knock it out.

mypeez :
that's what I'm going to do. Nighttime stuff in a bit, sleep in tomorrow, go for a gentle jog tomorrow just to get the blood flowing. I tend to get past the fatigue part pretty quickly and it usually stays "above the neck" (no coughing or chest congestion). My chest usually feels a bit constricted but not a lot. I'm just hoping to finish and not worry about trying to beat my last year's time.

Well I did my 3 miles. A bit slower than I would have liked but given in sick, I'm okay with that.

Yay! I did it. My coughing didn't start until after the run. My lungs feel a little tight.

I had a goal and I beat it by 1:14, and was 4-5 min faster than last year.

We had a couple people drop out due to injuries.

AverageSue : Setting a 10k PR, while fighting a cold is impressive.
