@skutfarcus : They have never existed. Every Republican administration since Eisenhower has expanded the deficit and ran up the debt at a far greater pace than any Democrat administration. Its not even close. The Democrats have had more fiscal discipline.

Yet... they have been very successfully branded by Republicans to be the opposite.

Reagan, W Bush, Trump have all significantly cut taxes and... greatly expanded spending. The trickle down has never occurred. Quite the opposite... the wealth gap has expanded bigly each and every time.

@CCubs : In the run up to the 2016 election, Trump voiced support for possibly and selectively defaulting on the U.S. debt.

Yet every time the Democrats get control of Congress, the 1st thing GOP does is jump up and down demanding spending cuts, deficit cuts, or they won't vote for any Democrat legislation such as raising debt ceiling. When it was GOP in Congress and the WH that drove up the deficits and debt.
My opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Haven't we've been hearing this since Reagan.

Elon Musk just said he wants to cut Social Security and Medicare, calling them "entitlements": "That's the big one to eliminate."
