We've bought 2 iceberg heads of lettuce at Kroger's. (Well, 1 today)
We had lettuce from last Sunday as part of tuna salad last week, with no issues.
Again, just a case of watching where your lettuce comes from, and washing before using.

It's been a little hot to be growing lettuce locally. Those high 80/low 90 days with bright sun do terrible things to those tender young sprouts. If you just want a little, plant it in a pot that you could move to the shade, or is in the shade, during the middle of the day as my mother does. Her planter is on wheels so it is a quick push around the corner of the garage.
