My other neighbor's dad was a heavy equipment operator for one of the big construction companies and they got the contract to clear the streets of chicago after the blizzard of '78.
They were using large end loaders and loading snow out via semi, and dumping the snow onto the ice on Lake Michigan. Sometimes a small car would get dumped out onto the ice with the snow.
