Gunshot round fired into anUplands home
At nearly the same time a vehicle struck a tree at the edge of the street on N. Parkside Dr. , a gunshot round knocked plaster from the wall of a nearby home. Council person Grayeb, when informed, was uncaring and unresponsive, implying if you choose to live in the city be prepared for such things. Also he doesn't think cut through traffic, to avoid long waits at the Main/University intersection, should be bothersome to Uplands residents. Further, he said cut through traffic would not have been a contributing factor. And, he is the "go to" person to solve problems in the area of the city he represents. He's long in the tooth and needs to be moved out and on.

@Ply1958 : I disagree with your assessment of Chuck Grayeb. I'm not aware of the circumstances of which you speak, but I do know he is more involved in community issues than the others. He wants problems resolved and persistently calls upon the police to do so. The others just complain and set unattainable goals.

I think Chuck Grayeb has done a good job. And he seems to care about what is best for EVERYONE.

@Ply1958 : My Aunt lives on N. Parkside Dr. in a beautiful three-story home with two basements. One basement Is a sub basement built specifically to hide bootleg liquor during the Prohibition. Her house was built by a former Dean of Bradley University.
***Update: The third floor of this home was built for the Dean's three Swedish maids. On the main floor, there is a closet that has a hidden pole in it that you can slide down to the sub basement where the Prohibition liquor was kept. Her house is on a hill very near Bradley Park. So, you can walk out of the sub basement thru a door in the hillside. Very convenient if you need to run away from the prohibition-era law enforcement agents😁. I always thought I'd love to buy her house when she thought she needed to get something smaller. She and her husband are in their late 70's. But, now 2 out of three of my kids live out of state.

@Ply1958 : Sorry you had this experience. I too, have always had the view that Grayeb takes care of business. HOWEVER, if this is your experience, then this did happen.

And yes, he should be addressing the traffic problems the Uplands are presenting to him.

Sorry you're having this experience. I know it's frustrating.

I don't always agree with Chuck Grayeb but he is a stand up guy and speaks his mind and operates from core beliefs and not what he reads in a "how to think" manual. Rare quality, and for that I support him.

@tntrecycling : I disagree, at least when it comes to most of the Council people. I have not had much interaction with a couple of them. Get a lot of support from some of them when I have talked to them concerning issues. A few have even changed a vote, like on the development of apartments at Riverfront Park. Have gotten help with code issues. Have helped get meetings with the right people to get some things addressed. I have to ask, have you ever taken an issue to your council representative or any of the at-large ones?

Issues at hand have went many times years ago. Only to sit for hours to find out no help and my idea wont work.
The only one who would really listen was Sandberg. Well we know how that always went one vote No while the others followed the money.

I stopped wasn't worth the time even today. Had everything set up for tires yet the city wants more info so that means I have to stop doing what my Job is to make them feel good.

Heads are in the wrong place when it comes to really taking care of the city's people.

I am skeptical that any of OP's claims happened. There has been no commentary about any such incident in the neighborhood that I am aware of.

@QuispnQuake : I received a call from the owner of the home clearly concerned about the round knocking plaster off his dining room wall and the lack of concern from his council person when the incident was described to Grayeb. This owner doesn't blog and has a tendency to be discreet. For those seeking verification that it happened suggest you contact your councilperson.

I'm curious about this. What exactly is a councilman supposed to? The police are to investigate crimes. But, realistically, it will never be solved. Unfortunately, all you can do to avoid the crime is leave the City of Peoria.
The crime here is steadily increasing and the punishment for crime is decreasing.
