@AllHailTheQuisp : Keyword your missing is PROJECTED. Maybe more be less with the government track record on predicting betting on the latter.

@EyeintheSky : Do you realize how many other cities competed to get this? Look up the number. THEN tell me that Amazon was not committed to making good on this.

Where have we heard that one before?

@cjsummers : So tell everyone on this site that you would say the exact same thing if Amazon had plans to locate in Peoria. You would not want them to come.

Amazon would have generated more tax money than it received in tax breaks. She shot her own people in the foot.

She stopped a fountainhead of tax money, that would have surpassed 3 billion in just a matter of years. She stopped the opportunity for the low income wage-earners to make a $15 minimum wage a closer reality.

Her homeless would have had more services, her subways would have received repair money, her neighborhoods would have been improved.

She cut off a supply of money that was way bigger than 3 billion. She's an idiot. She's harming the very people she was trying to help.

Bezos has over 100 more locations he could have given this to. And NYC blew it.

@AllHailTheQuisp : Were they locked into an agreement and a fine if failed to complete as promised??? Doubt it the governments don't cover the assets they put up since it not their money they don't care. The number are what NYC stated and hoped would happen there was no guarantee it would happen or last for 25 years. You know how companies have to change and evolve with trends. Who is to say they will be the big fish in 5 years they may go bankrupt especially with the divorce looming. How many build it and they will come have we seen here over the years we are very skeptical and for good reason. The whole we will give you millions in tax credit if you come here is so Walmart. If they truly want to come to a city they would have no issue paying their own way.

@AllHailTheQuisp :

And many. of the other cities are hot in pursuit of the jobs that won't be in NYC. The cattle stampede started immediately after the announcement.

Look at all the tax revenue Amazon is bringing to America: www.theguardian.com/ technology/2019/feb/ 15/amazon-tax-bill-2 018-no-taxes-de

@cjsummers

There is also the money that employees spend in the local economy which brings in sales tax. Money spent in restaurants, money to suppliers and contractors to Amazon that brings in sales tax etc. The list is nearly endless.

Maryland offered Amazon 8.5 billion. New Jersey 7 billion.

He had 230 cities to choose from, before narrowing it to the 2 finalists.

@AllHailTheQuisp :

Before the final decisions were made last year word got out that Toronto made final cut. If Bezos wants to play exceptionally tough he could take these jobs to Toronto.
